Does anyone had any good experience with any GPS softwares or maps? I'm trying to work my P910a with a bluetooth GPS (not TomTom or Route 66) in the USA. Do i need a mapping software along with maps, or just maps only? Most of the links i've found in the forum are more than 2 years old already.

Thanks.

I have both TomTom5 and NHGPS on my phone but I prefer TT5.

If you don't need turn-by-turn directions (ie. just mapping, recording routes, setting waypoints, speed/location/direction information etc), then I can wholeheartedly reccommend the free MapViewGPS, or the better (not free but not expensive) SmartComGPS. They can be found at:

You can use any image you like as a map - once you calibrate it - which means you can either make your own from mapping websites or scanning paper maps, or you can use ready-made maps for OziExplorer (check the above site's forum for more information).

So far I have successfully navigated my way around the UK (London, Birmingham, motorways), California (LA, SF, Yosemite), Italy (Verona), and will soon be taking it skiing in the alps - not so much for mapping, but to record my altitude & max speed, and to provide location co-ordinates in the event of an accident!

I can wholeheartedly recommend MapViewGPS myself. This is a remarkably sophisticated application.

I've just tried the trial version of SmartComGPS. Getting the maps to fit its' scale was tricky.
So what would you guys recommend if i need to run a map with turn-by-turn direction?

Thanks in advance!

Hi i'd reccomend Tom Tom 5 as an excellent bit of software, everything is very easy to see on the 910's screen and even voice commands are audible once on full volume IMO.
