Was told Voda do a student tariff which gives you unlimited texts! you miss out on "stop the clock" deals etc if you opt for the student deals..... think its £25 a month plus 100 or 200 mins Xnet.
Orange give 1000 texts a month to students as well..... on any tariff i think...

25quid a month! *cough splutter* lol. Im lookin for something cheaper than 10quid mate that web site is http://mercurymobiles.Com 90quid for 2 year deal or 50quid for 1 year. If u go for the 2 year deal a greater selection of phnes are free. And if u go for a dear phne u get it cheaper

You wont get cheaper than 300 free texts for £10 a month on O2 PAYG. The phone companies have to make money or they will go bust and you wont get any phone networks.
I have just found that orange do a similar offer to O2 where you top-up by £10 a month and get 1000 free texts.

to be honest that mercury mobiles is greart if you already have a phone you wish to use but not so great if you want to get a new handset with them.
ie. say you sign up to the two year mercury deal for £89.99 and you want a phone so you choose the motorola V3 - which is £35.99 with the two year sim. Total cost is £124.99 for two years.
if you look at somewhere like onestopphoneshop.com they are offering the v3 for free with 9 months line rental at £0.99 and then then the remaining three months at £16. therefore a total cost of £56.91 for a year. Also they give you 200 free texts per month for the first three months. So basically this would not only cost you less - £113.82 for two years. you would also get free texts and you get a new phone every year instead of being stuck with one for two years.
Basically if you are looking to get a new phone i am just trying to say that there are possibly better deals out there. In terms of cheaper txts then the deal you have with o2 is one of the best available. To get anymore cheap txts you would need to sign up to a far more expensive contract such as the o2 online ones or one of the student ones mentioned above.
Hope this helps,
Tom
p.s. i think i have done the calculations correct for the deal from onestopphoneshop but they are not the most upfront of people so i wouldnt be surprised if there are some sort of hidden charges i am possible missing!

im sure youve got that wrong about that deal mate these offers of free rental or half priced rental usualy have a 18 month deal so you would have to add on another 96 quid , the type of phone wasnt important to mean as i would only ever use it for calls

it was definately a 12 month contract. it was the orange OVP t-mobile relax 200 offer with the v3 at onestopphoneshop.com by all means go have a look as i may have missed something! of course this offer would be via cashback so a bit of extra hassle i guess but still works out as v.cheap on your pocket at the end of the day!
