According to the IT research consultants Gartner, in the first quarter of 2006 Sony Ericsson was the fourth largest mobile phone manufacturer, behind Samsung, Motorola, and Nokia, and held market share of around seven percent.

I got this from Wikipedia. At least now SE is finally ahead of LG!

There are a lot of regional markets where is No 1 and 2, hovever, according to Miles Flint, the president, market share is not very important to as long as the company is making a profit.

To go after market share alone would be "the wrong thing to do", to quote him. And don't forget that this leap is also due to the formation of the new Siemens/BenQ Alliance who are doing what did when it was formed back in October 2001.

Also, according to some commentators, Motorola is not expected to have a good year in 2006 and could lose market-share because of their reliance on a few successful models.
