Yes, I finally did it. After months of waiting for a Pxxx series that would fit my needs, after countless "freezing" of my K750i which made me loose data all the time (although I had a backup of it on my notebook), I finally said goodbye to SonyEricsson.
I bought a signature phone (Orange M5000) and I am very happy with it. Windows Mobile 5.0 works really fine, memory card (it has SD card) don't cost a fortune, and I can pretty much do everything I expected from the Pxxx series (UMTS, Wi-Fi, BT, messenger, internet, sync, word, excel, power point).
I waited and waited for SonyEricsson to produce a convincing high end phone, red all the forums in desperate search for something.
Finally, after the 4 total freezing of my K750i (the phone wouldn't even turn back on!!) I had enough.
SonyEricsson takes ages to release some products (particularly high end ones) and are playing around their "Walkman marketing" concept (pretty much every phone can play MP3s nowadays) while users like me are left waiting for promised products that never reach the actual market (or do so when they are old already).
Sorry for the long post. I really happy with my phone! But I have been a long time Ericsson, SonyEricsson user (ten years), and would have loved to continue the "tradition".
Let's call this a "deception thread". Anyone experimented the same?
PS- for the time being my K750i is in the drawer, maybe I will use it sometimes, but not immediately.

congratulations. The M5000 (a variant on the HTC Universal that I had) is a great device and though I sold mine in preference for the K-JAM I still miss that big screen and the 3G data capability
I haven't tried any of the branded ones so I'd be interested in what "extra value" orange put into the M5000 in terms of useful functionality

i thought youre an SE user for ten years... but why compare a K750 to a smartphone... its kinda like lop-sided if you ask me...
anywho.... congratulations for finding your happiness...

It takes nice pictures thou. Use it as a light weight camera :-) I like WM5 more and more. Symbian is taking a knock because of incompatibility problems with previous versions and split interfaces.(s60, s80, etc.) Actually is only S60 putting up a fight but it looks like the WM5 is getting the upper hand. @rockygali
I didn't compare my K750i to a smartphone, I only said that I waited too long for SE to produce a high end phone. So I switched.
@masseur
Orange put the "shortcut bar" on the left hand side of the screen. There is a dedicated button for Live TV, Orange World, Internet Mail, Personal Homepage and Video.
Other than that there is no special customization, and this is a thing I really like about the phone.
Here find a general picture of the phone (desktop image is me and my girlfriend

) and the "Orange Menu".

I use an Orange M2000 (unlocked and with I-Mate PDA2K software) as a second phone. I wouldnt ever use it as a main phone as it is way too big to carry around and you look a bit daft when using it as a phone. I mainly use mine as a PDA for Sat Nav and internet that has its own GPRS connection. Its very rare that I use it to make phone calls, my W800i is there for that.

looks like Orange did a good job on this one
and I see the german version has the QWERTZ keyboard which I had so much trouble with during my last 4 1/2 years in Frankfurt because on my desk I had an NT box with German keyboard, a Unix box with English keyboard and my own Sony Laptop with English, so I was forever typing Y's and Z's the wrong way around!

tut tut.
I have found myself using many phones over the last year (i think about 40-50 differnt models) and personally I will only got for SE. I have had lots of windows mobile devices inc a mpx 300 (not seen much in the uk) and have been disapointed with all of them for mutiple reasons. The p series of SE are the only phones I personally use, and find it hard just using a normal keypad sometimes (to used to touch typing on the querty). Unless they have a huge design change (where its smaller then a ipod etc) i dbout il ever be persuaded to use a windows mobile device

The P-series is nice indeed althou 'a bit' (to put it mildly) outdated :-( Also the operating system is not supported anymore (most applications are 'yester years'. The S60 is better in this field althou 1 year from now may suffer the same fate :-( On the other hand WM5 is gaining momentum in heap and bounds. I think you've done the right thing to switch over buddy. I am thinking on doing the same unles the 'new' S60 (N80 in particular) lives up to my expectations. Greetings from South Africa. Mario :-)
