It has a vga camera which works at it's best set at 640x480 resolution. I tend to get my best results in good daylight. Your best bet to get the most out of the pictures you take would be to use a photo editing software and also
NOISEWARE which is a handy piece of pc software to have and can help clean up your pictures, have a play with the settings as you will find that each will give you different results. Scroll down the page and download one of the following for free
Noiseware Community Edition
v 2.5 (build 2501)
Free Download for Windows XP (1.3MB)
Free Download for Windows 98SE/Me/2000 (2.3MB)
As for software applications, I don't think you will find anything you can add to the phone that will improve the quality of the pictures you take. Your phones firmware can make a small difference, you can check
here as to what version you have and whether you should consider updating it.
