I just bought an AT&T T68i phone. I was told it was unlocked by the person who sold it to me, but I checked the phone when I received it and it isn't unlocked. I placed my Cingular SIM card in and it does work. So does that mean I don't need my phone to be unlocked in order to use another SIM card? What benefits do I get with an unlocked phone?

yes you need it unlocked, the benefit is you can use your sim.
