Im goin to New York on a school trip on Sunday and need to exchange sum dollers, where would i get the best rates?
I was thinking Post Office?

Yup, post office. They'll do most in-store (US Dollars, certainly), and if not then it's normally next-day. All with no commission charges.

Marks and Spencer were doing better deals at the postoffice when i got my Euros last weekend!
Also, a lot of travel agents will beat the post office price.

Travelex also offer great rates, if you order online and collect from the Airport

I lived in Gloucester MA for a few years and travel regularly still too see friends and ex-in-laws. Have to say i still check out all the travel agents first. ( and PO) Many travel agents charge no fees either now....not just the PO. Best deals i,ve ever had though have been at the banks in the US themselves. Sometimes ended up with an extra 4 cents per dollar compared to the UK PO and agents etc at that time

It still pays to look around.

if you can wait till you get to new york. you will find any bank will exchange the currency for you and it is safe to say you wont have trouble finding a bank in new york. good luck and may you have a good trip

Thanks guys, will have a look around then go for the best rate, if i do get it in New York is there a limit on the amount you can get at one time, i.e £300 or sumthing?
