IS there a way for the screen to be automatically locked when you make or recieve a phone call?

Cause i press the phone to my ear in order to hear the other person and i accidentally enable application when my ear touches the screen.

I keep doing that, and when the phone goes off in my coat pocket the screen becomes active and i press the wrong button while getting the phone out, regularly rejecting calls.
the only way i know of getting round it is to try and remember to activate the virtual flip for calls, and when putting it in your pocket.
