Did a search but couldn't find similar.
Seems my w800i has overheated. It was in my pocket and became so hot I had to take it out - it's in a crystal cover and even that was too hot to hold. Put it on the table and it took about 10mins to cool down.
I'd previously tried to send a text and it just shut down, so I took the battery out and in again to get it going. Then it just died.
I don't have my charger with me, but trying to charge via the USB did nothing - no lights came on. Borrowed a k750i battery and that charged off the USB - but within a minute the phone (and the spare battery) were too hot to touch. Plus I couldn't get a signal.
The phone is only about a month old. Never had a phone get so hot before. Shortcircuited somehow?
[edit: the spare battery I just gave back to my colleague - and I've drained half the power in little over a minute!]

Sounds like something physical has gone wrong somewhere! If it's still under warranty see if you can get it repaired/replaced under warranty.

Yeah, going for a straight replacement - but going to have to see if I can pull the data off it somehow.

The only thing I can think of is a build up of moisture inside the crystal case when the phone's been in your pocket due to warmth.
You might struggle to to get your data off the phone I'm afraid unless it's stored on the memory stick

Guess that's possible. Will try and get it going - it connected to my PC using my colleagues battery - but I don't want to fry his too. Will see if it powers up when plugged into the charger at home. Cheers for the responses.

If there is a short circuit in your phone, you will surely make that battery you just borrowed 'hot'. You might even damage it.
Is getting that data really that important?

Just hate losing stuff like numbers/calendar/photos. Most is backed up but will try anyway.

Hopefully the photos will have saved automatically to the memory stick, so you may still be able to retrieve them. Sorry about the contacts and calendar stuff though!
I tend to keep a copy of all my contacts on the sim card just in case, plus I tend to swap phones quite a bit!

I haven't tried making any of my phones work off the charger alone (w/o the battery installed).
