I always thought that this 160 character limit is due to the equipment being used by the service providers.

what akalias2k6 is referring to is the number of SMS (text) messages that be stored in your Inbox which is limited to 200 text messages and NOT the number of characters that can be typed in an SMS or a text message which is up to 160 charaters only.

Read the link on my computer now so i'm cool- does anyone know of a free program that can edit SE's file structure?
