For a UKP600 device, the HTC Universal has a poor quality camera, weak BT reception and poor quality radio for calls. My M600 (tiny in comparison) is much better than the Universal when compared with the same feature set - the most surpising is how fast the M600 is for a 200Mhrz CPU when compared to the Universal's 520Mhrz. Obviously until we have a P990 we can't make to many comparisons but from what I haev seen Symbian 9 and UIQ3 have got a lot of potential.

I had a O2 Exec (Jasjar) and couldn't wait to get rid of the heap of junk. WM2005 is absolutely terrible - to the point of being unusable. Microsoft should be ashamed. Phone functionality was decades behind Symbian, OS was sluggish to the point of being unusable, GUI was terrible, multi-tasking was pathetic, software was bloated. It crashed often and was generally a really lousy user experience.

I am now the happy owner of a M600. 'Nuff said.

I left SE (910) for a Imate Jam, only to have to come back to the SE cause the Imate required at least 5 resets a day. Apart from the crashes I find the P910 to be a much easier phone for daily use. The Jam was by far the worst phone I have ever had the misfortune of owning, I lost almost $200 but I would have paid anything to get back to the 910. My choice without a doubt would be to wait for the P990.

IM+ for windows mobile aught to take care of Yahoo for you.

As far as the cost of UIQ 3 software is concerned you can browse some sites like http://my-symbian.com/uiq3/software/ and compare them to Windows mobile sites http://www.pocketgear.com/ .

These are still early days for UIQ 3.0 so there aren't many applications available right now, but im pretty sure that the list of available software will grow.

WM2005 is an ok system, not perfect but ok. it is the branding that O2 and others install that stuffs it up. if you are able to hack the registry and delete the branding guff it will be a useable device. this still wont help with the dismall battery life of the exec though.

I'm glad you found it so because I certainly didn't. I did end up with the QTEC ROM installed on my O2Exec which was an improvement on the O2 ROM, but these things are relative! I suppose each to their own, there are thousands of happy WM2005 users, I just wasn't one of them.
