hi all. hey can any one help me securing my p910 against theft. i have heard of a software.aftr installing it in ur mobile u put a specific "mobile number" (any one which is accesible to u except the one of ur own mobile). whensoever some1 changes d sim,it asks for a password,if entered wrong,it sends a text msg from the new sim to the "mobile number" which u have put in the software.then u can get ur mobile traced.
the problem is this that i dont know the name of that software.currently v dont have any anti mobile theft service running in my country, sohave no other option except to find that software. thanx fellows.

There are two apps that will do what you need:

MobiGuard: http://www.mobipowered.com/mobiguard/

and PhoneSecure: http://www.wildpalm.co.uk/PhoneSecureUIQ.html

A question: If someone stole a ex P900 armed with Phonesecure. Would it then be possible for the theft to format the stolen phone either via the phone or a computerprogram on a pc?

The best way to secure the info in this phone is to store important/personal files in the C drive and activate the login + screen saver password lock.
As far as I know, there is no way to open a locked P910 by force.
And you reflash it, the thief will loose all the contents of drive C.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes the thief will lose the contents on the stolen phone but with a previous backupfile from another P900 (in this ex) I should think he can just restore this backup on the stolen phone and have a new functional phone...?¿?

I use phonesecure and also use the lock function on your phone.

Altho ive never had the need to use phonesecure (touch wood!)

Phonesecure is great. If a thief decides not to change the sim, but just start using your own sim to make calls, you can text a special code to your own number to lock the phone remotely - brilliant!

No, it won't stop a determined thief from getting the phone working again, but most criminal types aren't going to bother (or be clever enough to work out how) to try.

Unfortunately, this means they'll probably just throw it in the bin, but at least they're not benefiting.

Notice that when using the default code protection, you can only do a Master Reset or Restore of a backup *after* entering the correct PIN.

And since the Pxxx's don't have a reset button, the thief is stuck!

So, find a good PIN (4+ digits supported) and your info will be safe in the internal drive.

If by chance the thief finds your phone unlocked, for passwords, cc numbers, etc, I recommend HandySafe.

Will this programme affect your warranty if you tried to make
a claim?
Would you get an insurance discount like you would with your
car or bike insurance?

If you lost your phone you may have to keep quiet about having
the programme in the event that you do no find your phone & have
to make a claim.
