wi-fi (wireless fidelity) is a wireless communications standard- usually for cordless communication between computers in an office or home environment.It operates at 2.4 GHz and typically at a speed of either 54 or 108 mb per second.In a phone it is intended to replace the need for a cable link.
UMTS and 3G are both different names for the new third generation of mobile networks which offer higher data rates than GPRS and make things like streaming video or downloading large files much easier

My guess is that UI stands for User Interface
the Q hmm maybe they started with A..B..C hehehehe
Seriously it stands for User Interface IQ (smartphone)

I made a search for UIQ acronym on google
on two dictionary sites I got my answer
on one I got yours...
Didn't find anything on UIQs own homepage so not
sure wich one is correct.

Amax is right. A few years back Symbian developed several reference designs for UI's before deciding to leave this upto third parties. One of these was Quartz which was for tablet style communicators - I think there was also one called Crystal which was for Nokia Communicator styled devices. I can't fully remember the third and final one although I believe it may have been Perl (or something). UIQ is still a Symbian subsiduary hence the 'Q' standing for Quartz (or so I assume!).
