My phone flew from my shirt pocket on to a ceramic tilled floor! To my surprise, I got away with only a minor scratch on the housing, no cracks no dents. Phone landed with the bottom left edge hitting the floor first, Since the black metal part of the housing took most of the shock; rest of the phone was saved. If it was made with plastic, I'm sure it would have cracked.
SE should use more aluminum in the housing. It can really give good protection.

my k750i was dropped on the floor and the housing is fine, no dents or cracks except... the LCD cracked!!!

A K750. The bottom part of the front panel (around the keypad) is made with aluminum or some sort of a metal /alloy. I am just suggesting that SE should use more aluminum when making phone housings.

mines went from the car's dashboard onto the window fell to the arm guard and unto the floor while the car made a big turn....
second when it was charging from under the office table then i accidentally dragged the cable and the phone came along with it fell to the floor face up...
luckily after all this adventure... auto focus still intact, and my phone hasnt been scratched at all.. no protection of silicon whatsoever...

Indeed, more alu covers would raise tge quality of the fones and the look aswell! To save money is ok, but se does it at the wrong side

wow it will be tough
most of the electronics product is using magnesium due to some safety and also electronic issue
but i guess as long as it is tough....it will suit nicely to ppl who have the phone always facing rough condition

Actually aluminum is already used, Motorola Razor is almost 100% aluminum, also the SE T610 had a fair amount of aluminum in the housing as I remember. And I am guessing the area around the keypad of K750 is also aluminum.

I mean, if using a tougher casing, sure it will suffer less from hitting the floor.
But then also, the force will be transmitted more efficiently to the inner parts of the phone, without being absorbed. As a consequence, the inside of the phone might break. Now what do you prefer in such a situation: replace the housing or replace the electronics of the phone?
