I went New York last week with collage and took my Sony P120
http://www.bristolcameras.co.uk/sony-p120.htm

Now i have looked at the pics on my PC and noticed a black mark in the top left corner of the pics, any idea what this is and more importantly how to fix it.

i want to upload a pic to show exactly what i mean but i dunno how to resize them to make them smaller than 1mb cos of esatos limit
How do i do this?

Thanks

@p900 - Yo can auto-correct the images or better yet 'crop' it so that the top-left damaged area can be omitted/deleted mate. have youtried uploading an example image here? I think Esato will auto-resize the images uploaded . . . or maybe you can post a link where the pics can be viewed . . .

I'll give an example:

Original image size taken from my Kodak 4.0 MP digicam - Title and date included:

Cropped/resized: Date and title removed:

That's only the consequence here mate . . . some portions of the whole photo will be deleted, BUT if it's only the top most upper let corner that will be cropped (will be aligned with the right side too), I guess it's just worth the try . . .

Good Luck! Sorry, if I have shown a WRONG solution to your problem dude . . .

@p900 - H m m m m m . . . since the problem on your digicam will remain on the unit . . . forever, unless you have it serviced or eventually have it . . replaced, I was just pointing out how to remove that 'dark spot' on the top left corner, as it appears everytime you are taking pics. Cropping the photo (result) is one of the remedies I guess . . . or even a 'photoshop' will do the trick.

@p900

Starting with the obvious, are you sure that the black mark is not due to dirt on the lense? It's often the culprit, I use those screen and keyboard wipes (similar to baby wipes!) to clean my camera lense.

As for your uploading problem, what is the file extension of your pictures? It sounds like your camera is set to save the photos as bitmaps (.bmp) rather than jpegs.

Best thing would be to get yourself a photo editor so that you can crop the photos (as JN suggested) and also convert them to jpegs.

The GIMP (excuse the name!) is a free and pretty powerfull photo editor and there's plenty of tutorials on the site to help you get the hang of it:

I would use the "clone tool"

Just click and hold alt on a nice bit of blue sky then paint that over the dark area.

@p900 - With the 2nd image, a little cropping removes the dark spot There's a lot of improvements that can be done with the PAINT icon I guess . . . got no time though to perfect it though. Cropping will reduce the original size also

Looks like a bit of dirt or something's gotten onto the lens. Try cleaning it and see if it makes any difference. If not, it could be something inside the lens rather than outside of it, in which case it'd be a bit trickier to remove!
