The Department of U.S Homeland Security ran an exercise called operation "Cyber Storm" to learn how it could shut down "anti-Government activists" underground hackers, and bloggers...I thought thats the kind of thing communists used to do,suppress freedom of speech,i believe china is still practicing this today, seems like even our freedoms on the internet are now being challenged by the u.s government.

Exactly what the Communists used to do and what China does.. Reminds me of song by the Clash - Know your rights - " You have the right to free speach... Better NOT use it..." hmm.. America Uber Alles.???

Anything is justifiable under the general excuse of "national security"

What they don't realise any DOS attack they launch, can be returned in kind. If they start crashing people's blogs, expect hackers to do worse than deface the white house website

do they mean actual shutting down of a site or blocking access within the US?
I mean if it's a .co.uk and hosted in the UK and it's about the US, would they attempt to shut it down.

I thought I remember hearing that the main servers (the root of the internet) in the US are going to be moved to different countries so that no one country will have control.

They effectively could shut down the any site with this new system no matter where it is in the world.

I dont think it would matter where it was hosted, they would have the final say on what should be displayed.

No the U.S has now retained control over the internet,do you really think they would lose control by letting it go to another country.

They would'nt stand a damm chance,,,That would be perfect!

They are such cowards they only pick on poorer and weaker countries who can't fight back properly!.....I remember the cold war days with the soviets, they did'nt have the courage to say or do anything.
