Hi, i know this has been talked about many times here, but as i keep searching in the forums im starting to feel more and more stupid.
So here´s my question: What program(s) do i have to install in my PC to be able to make some apps in C++ for my p910, to emulate the app in my pc and then send the SIS file to my phone?
Im really confused because everybody talks about Codewarrior, Symbian kits, the emulator, etc. and i dont know if CW has a uiq emulator, or if i need 2 or 3 different packs installed.
so im sorry again if this has been posted too many times. feel free to just send me a link to a similar post, but please, for now i just need to know what i've asked what is BASIC to start making apps.
thank you very much

Start in these links (no special order):

UIQ: http://developer.uiq.com/
UIQ (new) Forum: http://developer.uiq.com/forum.html

SE Forum: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/show_forums.do
SE Tips & Tricks: http://developer.sonyericsson[....]symbian/p_symbian_tips_new.jsp
SE Tools: http://developer.sonyericsson[....]ocstools/symbian/p_symbian.jsp

Symbian Tools: http://www.symbian.com/developer/downloads/tools.html
______

The most importat is the SE Tools (link above).
For the P800+900+910 install the tools for UIQ 2.x, for the new phones (P990+M600, etc), install the UIQ 3.0 tools (beta!).

Remember to read all the docs online and readme's included in the tools, so that you can understand what you need to install and how to install (not always a simple task). Emulator is included.

On the end you will have Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 (or other ide) compiling, running & debuging apps on the emulator.

Have fun

Hey there. Thank you a lot for the reply. The links are really useful.
Im having trouble with installing the winscw UIQ SDK though. It always freezes at 84%. If I start the app in Win98 compatibility mode, then it works till 85%. I have Windows XP service pack 2 and metrowerk codewarrior installed correctly. Any clue??
thank you in advance

Some ideas:

Try ALT-TAB/Minimize/Move the window to see if there is some dialog waiting for an answer, that went to the backgroud?

If everything fails, I suggest you re-download the file just in case it downloaded with some error.

shyam335,
I believe you didn't yet grasp that Symbian + UIQ is a completely different environment from what you are used to. Knowing C++ it's only 50% of the equation.
To develop to these platforms you need to start reading manuals, white papers, read me's, web pages, etc, until you actually start creating anything. Go to those links I provided and *browse* and read everything you can find!
In the end, if you have questions, post them to the Foums I linked above.
Good luck and don't give up.

awww, i dont know what to do. My programming attempts are being frustrated too early.
The installer freezes when "Installing initialisation files". No other windows, and i've left it run for hours. Also i've downloaded it 3 times with and without download manager.
I have Codewarrior v2.5. Can it have something to do?

I suggest you post your problem in the UIQ forum.
I can't reinstall the setup right now to see what might be happening.
Are you sure if you minimize or resize the main window there is no dialog asking for a confirmation?
