Hey guys.

My K750i has developed a problem where the whole screen will flash white, then go blank over and over.

This happens whenever I connect the phone to something. It will happen when I connect it to the charger, or the USB data cable.

It also happens when turning the phone on. E.g. ...the phone is off, I press the power button, screen starts flashing for around 5min, and then either the phone will turn on, or it will stop flashing and not do anything at all.

I searched, and another member has also had this problem, but nobody gave him a very helpful answer. The link to his thread is here.

The only thing I can think of it that it's a firmware issue. Try updating the firmware on the phone (via SE's website) and see if that makes any difference. If not, it may have to go back to SE to be looked at, it should still be under warranty

Thanks for the response.

Have tried updating the firmware, but it does the same thing i.e. when I plug the cable into the phone the screen starts flashing...

The phone is not under warranty as it is imported. There are no Sony Ercisson stores in NZ so the only place to get them from is Vodafone, but I didnt want their ugly branding and menus etc.

The other option, though it will cost you a bit of money, is to take it to a local phone repair shop and see if they can do anything with it, or see if someone from here on Esato might do it for you!

Hehehe yeah I was hoping someone here would be able to come to the rescue.

Im a student earning a very small amount of money and would prefer not to have to pay for a cellphone repairer to fix it, also they seem to take forever, I know someone who took a phone to get fixed and they had it in their shop for about 3 weeks before they decided to do anything with it.

Also, my firmware version is R1AA008. That doesnt mean much to me, but yeah...lol

I'm in NZ and I've got the cable and software, so ya can send it to me to have a play with if you want, but if it needs to be updated with DaVinci or somesuch (if the firmware is damaged or the phone has been incorrectly unlocked) then you'll have to cover the cost of the credits from them (works out about NZ$25ish to do a full unlock & upgrade).

PM me if ya want. The mobile phone repair shop is also able to do this but it'll cost you plenty.

No offence or anything, but I dont really want to send the phone off to a complete stranger. If you are in Auckland though, maybe we could work something out?

How much do you think i'd be looking at to get this fixed from a mobile phone repair shop?

Mobile phone shop repair HQ is in Auckland somewhere, around $100 wouldn't surprise me, give them a call and ask.

Ah, thanks alot for that mate!

I actually bought the phone off Trademe, and have just emailed the seller asking him to pay for the repairs, as in the auction he stated the working condition as 10/10, when it obviously is not (i've had the phone for only 3 days)

Actually I just remembered a mate of mine's girlfriend works at 'Digital Mobile' (not sure if they have stores in Wellington??). Might find out if they do repairs too, might even get a discount since I know the person... cant hurt to find out... lol

Digital mobile is listed as a service centre, so they can probably sort it out for you. Presumably they just send it to the other repair people, but they might be able to do you a deal. The Vodafone repair guys (mobilefonerepairs) tend to be a bit quicker than Telecoms repair agents (I'm assuming they use different people due to the fact Telecom tends to take about a week and a half whereas Vodafone usually is 4 or 5 days.)
