Heard this on another forum, wander if its true, im all up for it, even tho im a teen at 17, lol, but i dnt like ppl hanging round places, if they not old enuf or dnt luk old enuf
to go clubbin or into bars they shudnt cause trouble on streets
New gadget repels teenagers
A new gadget repels gangs of teenagers by emitting a high-pitched noise that can be heard only by under 20s.
Police are backing the Sonic Teenager Deterrent, nicknamed the Mosquito because of its sound, reports the Daily Telegraph.
It annoys teenagers so intensely they have to clutch their ears. Eventually they can stand it no longer and have to move on.
But because the body's natural ability to detect some frequency wave bands diminishes almost entirely after 20, adults are completely immune.
The £622 black box, which can be attached to the outside wall of shops, offices and homes, sends out 80-decibel bursts of pulsing sounds at up to 16khz.
It sounds to youngsters like a demented insect or a very badly-played violin.
Howard Stapleton, a businessman and former electronics apprentice at British Aerospace, who was sick of youths hanging around outside his shop, came up with the idea.
Working in his bedroom in Merthyr Tydfil, and using his four children as guinea pigs, he came up with a prototype of his device and asked the local shop to test it.
"I got it so that only my kids hated it and my fianceé and I were completely unperturbed," he said. "We put up the prototype outside the store and almost immediately people stopped congregating.
"The beauty of it is that the noise does not have to be loud, just pitched at the right level which affects teenagers."

I'm a grand old 28-year old, certainly won't affect me!
I read somewhere else that a supermarket started playing classical music - and that worked on clearing teenagers congregating round the supermarket!
@solid - what will this device that scares over 25s away play? rap music? reality TV shows?

yeah! i hang around some places, just because people look 'scary' dosent mean there gonna do anything, i was outside my mates house, and some guy starts having a mardy at us all... it annoys me how all adults look down to teenagers, seeing us all as the 'yobs' on the street, even I hate them!

i saw that on the news, im 17, but think its a great idea, as I take business I can understand the effects this may have on shops, I don't hang round outside them really, but was in a parking lot once talking to mate and a traffic warent told me and him to bugger off, and its not liek we looked supicious. but for a business it can seriously detere customers leading to a loss of sales which then lead to a loss of revenu therefore profit

Gawd the one stop shop next to me always crowded with Chav Scally Pri*ks absolutely hate em. Saw about the box on the news sounds very good even though am only 16 the noise wouldnt bother me though am afraid lol.
