Dog tied up & burnt alive
By LACHLAN CARTWRIGHT

THE RSPCA is outraged after a dog was found tied to a tree on a golf course having been burnt alive.
Animal welfare officers are appealing for information from the public after the animal’s charred remains were discovered at the edge of Handsworth Golf Club in Birmingham last week.
A male Staffordshire bull terrier was found tied tightly to a tree by his lead on a patch of open land.
He was wearing a nylon muzzle, a distinctive black leather harness with a brass pattern and a tan leather collar with brass studs.
He had a wound on the top of his head and a large can, the same shape as a de-icer canister, was found beside his remains.
A large area of ground around the animal had been scorched by fire.
The RSPCA released photographs of the scene today in the hope that it would prompt people with any information about the offence to come forward.
Inspector Simon Davies said: “I find it difficult to put my thoughts into words after removing the charred body of this dog. I simply can’t comprehend what could motivate someone to inflict such appalling pain and suffering to a living creature.
“I know the general public will find this incident as upsetting as I have and my hope is that the publication of photos of this horrendous scene will result in people coming forward with information.”
Revealing further details about the “sickening discovery”, Mr Davies said: “It is my opinion that this dog was alive when he was deliberately set alight.
“He was tied to the tree so tightly that I had to use a knife to free him.
Particularly upsetting is that I believe the dog was set on fire wearing a
muzzle to prevent him from barking.
“I also believe whoever carried out this heinous act knew the dog would be found at this spot as it’s often used by dog walkers. A more secluded spot could certainly have been found but this was not the intention of the person responsible.
“This case is too horrific to think about and the public are our only hope of finding out who could have committed such a crime.”
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the RSPCA cruelty and advice line on 0870 5555 999.

A couple of years ago I confronted a ( I hesitate to call him a man) creature in my local park who's dog came up to play with mine. He called his dog back and when it did not come straight away he beat the por animal when it did come back.
I lost the plot completley ran at him with a veiw to beating him!
it ended up with me chasing him out of the park where he had a bike waiting, with me chasing him down the road yelling out what I was going to do to him when I caught him,, needless to say he got away.
Looking back it was a good thing I did not catch him for both parties but it makes my blood boil even today when i think of him.

thats terrible, i don't get it who the f--k is sadistic enough to do this? if its a place where people normally walk dogs, it gives me the idea that they really dont like them, id guess the person who did this must be between 13-25 as most other ages are more sensible then this, or have already been put in prission. I am sterotyping, but I myself am 17

There's a lot of this kind of cruelty about at the moment. You read also about firefighters, nurses, doctors etc. being attacked or lured into traps - like firefighters being called to a burning building, and a piece of carpet laid over a hole in the floor, needles put in fire hydrants, etc.
It makes you wonder what would make someone do that to an animal, and why - if indeed there is a reason apart from being a sadistic b*stard.
