I just bought a new K750i and enabled the Internet/WAP settings with T-Mobile here in the U.S. The WAP sites work fine but I cannot run the applications for Opera Mini and Google Local. I keep getting error messages saying I'm unable to access the Internet. What is happening? Do my Java settings need to be configured?

Please help! Thank you in advance.

alright, i just figured it out myself through searching the google local forums. so thanks for all the help don't worry though, the guys at sony ericsson support weren't much help either, they are complete morons, they said the apps would not work at all on my phone. they scared me at first, so i'm glad i figured it out.

Let me guess, was it the proxy settings?

This is what gave me hell when trying to get Opera to work.

Did you get Google Local to work? I too just purchased a k750i with T- Mobile. I can run Opera but I can't run Google Local. The Google Local website says it's not compatible with T Mobile. Is this true?

Not true as far as I know.

I think what they are talking about are T Mobile BRANDED phones. I can see where this would be a issue. For example, I use to have a Nokia 6101 that was T Mobile branded (with thier firmware), and applications used on that phone could not have access to the GPRS data because the option was disabled at the firmware level, which sucked. If that phone had the firmware that Nokia originally installed on it, it would have worked.

I am using Google Local on my unbranded W800i with no issues here in the US. So it should work for you too, as long as it's not a T Mobile branded phone, and it shouldn't be because I don't recall T Mobile ever selling the K750.

Moral to this story, always avoid buying a phone from T Mobile. Order it directly from the manufacturer so all functions of the phone are enabled..
