"K750i better reception than T610?"

I'm in the bay area (northern cali) and planning on buying K750i (same as w800i) to replace my 2-3 year old first generation T610.

I use TMOBILE.

Will i get better or equiv reception?

You should get a much better reception. The K750/W800 are much better for reception, where I live the O2 signal is quite poor, whereas with the T610 I get about 2 signal bars, with my W800 hybrid I get either 4 bars or a full 5 bars, and much better call quality.

I think this has nothing to do with the fone, regardless of what model . . . it will all depend on your local network . . . dissemination of their cell sites.

It does depend on the phone.

For example external antenna performs better than internal.

I am considering switching from tmobile to cingular. It sucks because I am paying less right now with a family plan, and if I switch i will no longer be on a family plan.

@wulabs - Unfortunately there are 'less' good fones with external antennas in the market today . . . Ohh, about the Treo 600 or 650 (they do still have externals) . . . if you are into PDAs here pal. Good Luck!

Ok answer to your question.

I live in the Uk but do travel to the USA quiet a bit as well as to most of europe.

I have owned or still own a T610, K600i (3G) K700 and now own a K750

Both the K700 and K750 are both much better in reception than th T610.

I take 2 phones when i travel (Sad i know) I try both Cingular and T-Mobile.

I can confirm on some occasions I can pick 2 networks on the K# phones However the T610 will only show one.

I can make a call on the T610 which is showing 1 bar and then the call will drop.
At the same time i can be on the same network using my other K phones and the network is fine. Infact the bar never goes below 2.

This doesnt mean the T610 is a bad phone at all. Far from it, I can confirm that the T610 handles the calls much better that the Nokia 7250 but not the 6230 range.

Also there is a known problem with the T610 working on the 1900mhz Band.

This was resolved in a Firmware update.

If you have any questions then please ask.

I hope this now does answer your question.

The K750i is a Gr8 phone, I dont work for SE or and mobile company.

I have just returned from FL and didnt have one problem with my K750i It was 100% perfect in signal, call, GPRS, MMS, SMS, Email. Everything worked with out a hitch.

i suffered from a poor reception where i live with my old sagem myx2 and myv55, when i upgraded to my new flash k750, the signal strength immediatley went up, and i might add... even more with the upgraded firmware. with the sagems it was 1 or 2 bars, 3 if i was lucky, then with the k750 it is now 4 or 5 (full).
