Is there any place in New York City that can do the firmware upgrades yet? I think my t68i has fairly old firmware (R2A014) and I'd like to have some of the new features and speed improvements of the newer versions.

thanks,
shooz

We are working on locating service points across the US. They seem to very hard to find. This post was posted from a T68i

Unlike Europe, SE doesn't have many service points in the US.

From what I have heard SE stopped the firmware upgrade out here in the US. Too many people were upgradding the old T68s to T68is' and SE was losing out on $$$. Thats only what i have heard from word of mouth so it may not be 100%.

Yah this is true SE is not doing the upgrades in the US. I had to get mine done by a guy here in Las Vegas that bought the equipment from europe. You can do like I did and just call to locate cell shops and ask if they do the upgrade I found two places in las vegas that way.

According to SE, there aren't ANY authorized service points in the US and updates aren't supported ANYWHERE in North America, including Canada and Mexico. I am corresponding with SE about their official policy on this matter and Esato will soon soon make a formal announcement on the subject.

As zionmcen pointed out, there are a number of "grey market" solutions to this problem (you can find more if you do a forum search), but of course they aren't endorsed by SE or Esato for that matter.

I would really like to find someone in Florida that can upgrade my T68 to T68i. Most of the sales people don't have a clue what I am asking them.

At this point about all that you can do to upgrade is take either zionmcen's advice or an overseas vacation.

There are also a couple of posts about places in PA and VT where you can send your phone but they are unauthorized and not supported by either SonyEricsson or Esato. To get the info, just use the search function...

I will be sending my T68m to Robb in PA on monday for the T68i upgrade. In the email he sent me he said he does a mater reset after he flash upgrades the firmware and to save all settings. How should I go about saving my settings? I am with Tmobile and got the phone from them and it was all preloaded for gprs and wap etc etc. I have also since then added my isp's ino for dialing out and shcnaged my background and added my own ring tone. How should I go about saving all this as to make it easy when I want to get back up and running when Robb sends me my phone back as a T68i?
I can sync the phone with my laptop through irda, which I have done already to upload some backgrounds and the ring tones. Can I back this information up on to my lap top or the sim card or what?
Thanks in advance.
