If I download a song from my cd to my PC and then transfer to my P910i it wont play the song from the CD as a ringtone when I select it.Why is that?If I play the song in Music Player it plays fine, but not as a ringtone.

What format are you converting it to when you rip the CD? It needs to be either .wav or .mp3 to be used as a ringtone if I remember corectly.

It's an MPEG-4 audio file...whatever that means. Is there anywhere or anything that can convert to the required format?

You can probably use iTunes or dbpoweramp to convert it to mp3.

Or download CDex:
http://www.download.com/CDex/3000-2140-10226370.html
It rips any number of tracks straight to MP3. Best of all, it's completely free and has no spy / adware at all!

Alternatively download the disc2phone software for say the W800 and it will convert audio CD tracks to mp3. That's what i did as all my music is in ATRAC and only convert to audio CD for the car. Very easy to use and works well, i wish my P910i would play Atrac as all my stuff is Sony and my P910i is Voda branded so don't think this is the problem.

Thanks for help.I downloaded CDEX,but I am not sure how to use it exactly. It gives you the option to extract cd files to wav and to compressed audio files but once it has done that I'm not sure what to do or how to do it.Will try disc2phone when I can find it.

lol!
Yeah, I should have mentioned that you have to highlight the track(s) that you want to rip and press the 'extract to compressed file' button! CDex allows you to use various different encoding systems, not just mp3 encoders which is why it doesn't say 'extract to mp3'!
After that, it sticks the mp3 files in a folder called 'mp3' located in 'my music' within the 'my documents' folder
