In what is another ridicilous move by 3, they have decided to start gluing the sim card in the phones.

They really are resorting to desparate measures arent they. How else are they going to restrict usage of the actual phone to the user?!?!? And this tit really sounds proud of this 'gluing' the sim cards in business..... shameful.... not very good publicity in my eyes, it'll just deter more people from buying their phones.

For a minute there I thought this was a sick April Fools Day prank. If I was a lawyer I'd be thinking: class action suit.
Seriously though isn't there a law preventing this time of behaviour? Or why don't they just switch over to CDMA and get rid of sim cards alltogether?

If three think they will stop box breaking by glueing sims,then they are very much mistaken....if anything this will affect the average customer not the box breakers,they will just find another way....three will find that there PAYG sales will decline dramatically if they permamantly adopt glueing sims ..I really can't see three sticking to do this (no pun intended) in the long run.

Gluing things in is quite a common practice, PC World used to get Tiny and Time Computers to glue the IDE cables into their hard drives and CD Roms to prevent the user from upgrading or replacing the devices themselves. Of course, you could remove the glued in IDE cable quite easily but it instantly voided the expensive extended warranty that you'd paid for!

That has to be a wind up! So what happens when the customer wants to upgrade their handset, gets a nice one off Ebay (or here!) and wants to tranfer their sim? Does this mean they'd have to go through three, or very carefully 'un-glue' their sim out of their old phone?
btw, really stupid question, what's 'box-breaking'?

Not stupid at all...a lot of people don't know,..box breaking is basically when people buy cheap PAYG deals and get rid of the sims and ship the handsets to be sold abroad for a profit..its quite lucrative i hear.

thats the whole point, you either buy from 3 or you dont buy at all. lol
