i used office xp live beta (the new one) to write a document, i got fed up with office xp and reinstalled office 2003, when i try and open this document it trys to convert it but into a code, how do i convert it so it opens with office 2003? thanks

I think you've had it unless you uninstall office 2003 and reinstall the beta version!
You've used an experimental version of software that hasn't been released yet to create a document. It's unlikely that anything else available at the moment will be able to read the file format, assuming that the beta dosen't have file saving bugs that is, so you'll either have to hang on for a bit for the competitors and hackers to catch up or reinstall the beta and save the document as a Word 2003 or earlier document.
