rose in french is pink thus anything normally called rose pink or a pinky red.

as far as im aware it is a direct translation.

or at least thats what i lerned in A level french. and abotu the only thing i can remember.

thats where the name for rose wine came from, or "Vin rose" litrally meaning pink wine.
