Forget about all the above crap - too complicated. Simply start a wap session and enter the following url:
http://m.gmail.com
Enter your logon details and thats it (oh yeah; save the link as a favourite/bookmark)
Thats all there is to it.

If you want instant and fast email access to your email use movamail get it through wap.movamail.com
