So I finally figured out what My Friends even is today by searching around Esato and I also found a useful thread which gave instructions on how to get it to work. And I got it to work! Well, kinda. That's why I'm here now.
I created an account at yamigo.com and fed My Friends on my phone all the settings. I was able to log in and all, but somebody needs to tell me how this is supposed to work. My contact list was populated and I was online, but the little "globe" on top that appears when web traffic is active sometimes appears and sometimes does not. Is that normal? Also, all the contacts appear online all the time. Just for clarification.. is My Friends supposed to let you IM with people while you are on the phone and they are on their computers, or do they also have to use My Friends and have the same setup as you on a PHONE? The former would be the great idea, the latter would be just a step above useless.
Thanks in advance!
PS
Just a side question.. I just saw the option under the thread to "Notify by email when replies are posted".. can't Esato do that automatically for all posts I make? Thanks

I had no idea Yamigo was that bad.. it seems great to me because it supports MSN and AIM, but yeah.. everyone appears offline, even though some friends told me they did see me online on their computers. For some reason everyone appeared offline to me.
I did think it was sort of weird, because Yamigo's GET CONNECTED page is the worst I've seen in a while. There is no clear layout to it and it doesn't even really tell you anything about getting connected! It sucks.
I just checked out the site you mentioned, smartvas.com, and I must say I'm very impressed. I'll create an account there and see how it goes.
Thanks!
Oh yeah.. and sure, it's just one box, but one box EVERY TIME I CREATE A THREAD. If it's something I'll want checked each and every time I create a thread, I'd say it makes sense to want it on by default, no?
EDIT:
While I'm at it.. may as well ask. Aside from Yamigo, is there any other such service that supports both MSN
and AIM? I do use both.
EDIT:
I take back my comment about Yamigo. I didn't know the different phone brands showed up on the left. Once you click that the instructions are flawless. The text on their page still sucks though.

Yamigo sucks, just tried, logged in, but did not show all the contacts online nor did I receive messages from them.
IM+ sucks too, because I tried it on a Motorola V1050 which was supposed to be supported, bought that piece of crap but when trying to enter the licence key it crashed to the phone's "desktop". And their customer service was not able to solve my problem.

Sucks to hear. Sorry about that. Yeah.. I haven't found a solution yet either. Yamigo is a piece of shit and I don't know of any good, free alternatives. I need both AIM and MSN, because MSN alone isn't worth much to me. I have about as many friends on MSN as I do on AIM.

Well IM+ works fine on my w800i (also worked well on my K700i) only probs i get is when the server is down, and that dont happen often. IM+ caters for Msn,Aol,Yahoo,Jabber and Icq. Not bad for £12 :-) U can trial IM+ from getjar.com if it interests you.

I've got great news. Check out
http://www.mabber.com, the latest addition to the web-based multiple protocol IM client market. Only this one's not only that, it offers a FREE java based client as well, connecting you to all your MSN, AIM, Jabber, Yahoo! friends... I'm about to check it out. You need an invite for this.. I'll post here if I end up having any invites.
Cheers
