> My K750i waterdamage? No f* way SE!

I just got word my K750i cannot be repaired. They say I must have spoiled something over it. In fact, I never let it near any liquid... Really.
It was the second time already I had let it be repaired. The first time some buttons didn't work. Right after i got it back, they let me down again. But half an hour later, the buttons worked again, so I didn't bring it in for repair.
A month or so later some buttons just stopped working. When I had it sent over to a SE service center, they said it was waterdamage, and offcourse, waterdamage isn't covered by the warranty.
So I had it checked by the store where I bought it, and sure enough, they also found waterdamage.
So now my phone is worth jack shit, (350€...) I have to pay SE for examining my phone (31€...) and I have to get a new phone (150€...).
I'm currently unemployed (though I am a Master in communication sciences), and I haven't gone on vacation in years... With that money I could have went this year... Thx SE!
Anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like classic water damage symptoms to me. They can tell as soon as they look at the PCB. If there is any corrosion they certify it as BER(beyond economic repair) If you don't believe them, take the phone apart and see for yourself.

A phone does not need to have had fluid spiled over it to be moisture damaged. From experience I have found that having you phone in certain conditions is enough.
Always follow these simple rules.
Never leave your phone on a window sill over night
Never leave your phone in a car over night. (When the temp drops during the night and then rises again in the morning, condensation corrodes the PCB)
Never EVER answer your phone in the rain. No call is THAT important. Period.
Never bring you phone into a shower room as the steam from hot water penetrates the handset and yes, you've guessed it, corrodes the PCB.
Simply put. Your phone is an electronic item. Always follow what I call the "laptop rule" I.E, you wouldn't use a laptop in the rain for obvious reasons. Those very same reasons apply to your phone!

i had the same problem with a d750i. It started turning it`s self off and freezing. I took it a t-mobile store to be repaired, and the same response came back `water damage`
Seems strange really as
1. the phone was 3 weeks old and had never left the house.(i have a k750i i use for work and was undecided on whether to keep the d750i)
2. it had only been turned on 3 times
3. no one else had touched it
I got a photo back with the report and sure enough there was something on the circut board they said it was water damage but as i am not a mobile phone expert i dont know

im not trying to make a propoganda here but to be honest i have used my N6630 in the rain and no troubles what so ever, i even had the phone in my pocket where it was literally wet like a pond lol and its still working.
I think the line of k750's have more problems than any other SE phones.

After a hard night of drinking I tested to see how far my z800i could fly. It flew pretty far and a few pieces broke loose. When I sent it to repair they said it couldnt be fixed because of water damage, so I got a new one. But I'm pretty sure it didnt brake because of water damage

Some phones even have stickers or printing in them which dissolves as soon as they're exposed to any "above normal" level of moisture. I've only so far seen it in a Motorola and Sanyo phone, but beyond that it's pretty much normal practice that any phone which has "undeterminable" problems tends to get lumped into the "water damaged" category.

Sometimes when phone electronics are faulty but there is no obvious cause, repairers use "water damaged" as the default diagnosis. However this excuse is not sufficient to void warranty. If they can't show you where the water damage is, then they don't know for sure that it is water damaged, hence they must cover it under warranty.
Many things besides water damage can cause the symptoms you describe. For example pcb failure, component failure, fitting problems, poor assembly, yada yada yada....
So get them to show you the water damage. If they can't prove to you there is water damage then they can't refuse to replace the handset under warranty. They might as well claim the phone was damaged by a solar flare, it's not proveable and can't be used as an excuse to avoid warranty obligations.
From what I can gather, service centres are penalised by SE for every phone they have to replace, so it is in their interest to find a reason to invalidate the warranty.

Water damage is also not immediately evident. A phone may get wet, then work for a couple of days. The owner will think 'phew, that was a close one!' Then, a week later the phone won't turn on!
