Hi all, i am currently finishing up my forum system that works on all mobile devices, and have a few questions that i would like for you guys to answer. First of all, what is the most useful forum feature or function that you have come across? Second, do you think functions are more important than design? Thanks in advance for the replies, as they will help me alot in development :-). The more features i get, the better :-), so you can answer multiple times for each of the questions above, thanks.

One thing I like is a 'view new posts' feature, that allows you to view from the first newest post since you last viewed the topic, useful when you're trying to keep up with a thread that tends to get a lot of replies.

for me this is what i like on a forum:
new posts tab - essential (like here on esato)
a decent pm system - i.e. inbox, outbox, sentbox, saved messages etc!
no pics in signature - i love the fact esato has this, keeps thread nice and clean and easy to read!
if possible i like forums that dont use advertising thou i understand why forums choose to have it.
a quick reply feature at the bottom of threads is also usefull - allows you to reply quickly and see the last couple of posts above (if that makes sense)
i love the fact esato has a server for hosting pics makes it much easier for everyone especially newbies!
think that's about it.

@Welsh: I am thinking about adding a function that lets you block other members signature and avatar, both or just one at a time, just to let members customize how they want :-). All the other functions i have :-).
