probably because the hardware of the QVGA video will compromise the size of the K790...

I think the processor of these phones are not fast enough to handle CIF video recording at 30fps. That's probably why. I don't think the reason is the size of the video against the screen because CIF is 352x288 while the screen is QVGA 320x240 so at full screen the video could be reduced and interpolated quite nicely to fit the screen -- that is if the speed of the processor is fast enough.

Agreed blackspot.
Ive often thought whilst the K700i and K750i seemed very fast at running Java games and apps, both phones struggled when coping with high quality video, even if recorded in QCIF format.
I put it down to SE using slow processors and chipsets, in fact, i reckon SE are probably still using the same set of hardware in the K750i that they did in the K700i - possibly even the K800i.
Thats my reckoning anyway.

Biggest problem is memory. If you take 2mp quality videos, the overall file sizes of these clips would be huge!
Just think. a 2MP video recording at 30FPS is the same as taking 30 2mp photos every second!!

2mp (1600x1200) has almost the same pixel count as a HD 16x9 1080 video . No consumer grade video cam records at that resolution yet(though not sure about sony's new HD camcorder).
Anyways, no cam phone is going near that video resolution anytime soon. Besides, for casual video recording, VGA video is already enough as it is almost similar to viewing normal TVs.

@ Scorchio - i hope your post was a joke, i dont think anyone is stupid enough to expect their phone to record in 1632x1224 resolution.
