sorry about that. I do tend to wait till late evening... just in case
anyway, I'm glad to see a windows mobile device with a decent hard drive and wonder when HTC/i-mate might consider such a possibility

No need to be sorry, first in should always get priority...Anyway I was literally 2 seconds behind you.
yeh 8 gig is rather impressive, puts the upcoming W750i and Nokia 91 to shame.

Yeah, 8 gigs...double the N91's HDD.
That's pretty damn impressive. Who would've guessed that the first 8 gig phone would be announced as early as this?

8gb is great but while I expect that on board storage will increase for sometime to come I still feel the future will be internet server based storage with high bandwidth access from the phone and limited storage on board to store important info for occassions when out of range of the internet server
I also wonder when solid state will catch up with disk drives of this size that can fit into mobile phones as it would clearly be the best option from a power consumption point of view

lets hope they improve the battery life from the i300 though, as thats a day if youre lucky!! cant see HDD phones being very usable until they find a way to improve its power consumption

the overall specs seem great, but 2MP just doesn't seem enough for such a developed phone. It should have been 3.2 like the K800/790

Poor battery life. Fragile. Slow spin-up time.
I'd prefer flash memory personally. Obviously things change if you have a phone with 30 or 60GB, but then battery life is going to be impacted even more.
SE haven't said they won't use HD's for what it's worth. I think it would be a wrong move, but if Samsung are doing 8GB then I guess a future Walkman phone (or any other phone/mp3 player) may have to take the jump to 20, 30, 40GB in due course.
