This problem has recently started happening: I do not know what, if anything, I did to cause it.

Phone is a P910i. PC is WinXP Pro SP 2.

I can see my phone in the mRouter Phone Connection Link tool, in the "Unknown Phones" window, if I place it into the USB cradle. (I can also see it via USB, as an "Unknown Phone"). I know it can really see it because it will disappear if I remove the phone from the cradle, or turn off my bluetooth link.

However I cannot connect to it: if I pick the phone and click OK, the window simpy disappears. No connection to the phone is established.

So I cannot sync any more, or install new software. Disaster!

I have tried a complete uninstall, reinstalling the lastest PC sync suite from the website, reinstalling from the original Sony CD, reinstalling USB drivers and so on and so forth. Nothing makes any difference.

I saw somewhere earlier that there could be firewall issues. This won't help me, as I have no control over the firewall installed on my laptop: corporate IT puts it there, it is not the Windows builtin firewall software (which is disabled).

Has anyone got any ideas? This will make my P910i useless to me, if I cannot sync it any more with my PC. This *used* to work fine

Do you think there is a chance that it's the phone that's not reporting correctly to the PC?
Have you tried to reboot the phone, right? ...
Mine somethimes needs a reboot so that the PC can see it.
Also the PC software sometimes need to be restarted so that it can see the phone. Search for an app called "SE Restarter".

Hi,

(sorry if there was a double post there, I hit return by accident).

You might well be correct, it might have been the phone.

Today I fixed this by:
- unstalling everything from the PC (bluetooth app and drivers, USB drivers, PC suite)
- powering off the phone
- putting back the USB components first, latest from the SE site
- powering on phone, it is detected correctly in the sync station

- then putting back bluetooth
- phone is detected over bluetooth now as well

I am not sure what the important step in all this was: it might well have been simply powering off the phone. I can't recall if I tried this yesterday or not...

So now I have what I wanted: sync over bluetooth, web browsing on the phone using gnubox/opera over bluetooth

and I am once again a happy camper.

Cheers
Liam
