Scientists have just announced the discovery of this strange new creature.divers found the creature at a depth of 7,540 feet of the coast of easter island,Scientists said the animal, which they named Kiwa hirsuta, was so distinct from other species that they created a new family name for it.

Does seem more like a albino lobster with furs, maybe a transvestite lobster even.

Yeah they find new species all the time, have they always been there undiscobvered, or are they developing as we speak? Spooky.

Info from http://www.trinity.edu - This information was current in 2001, can't find any more recent information.

1.6 million identified species on Earth.

4 million - 30 million altogether. 10 million is a reasonable estimate.

The majority of birds (9,000) are known. About 4 new species are discovered each year.

The majority of mammal (4,000) species are known. About 20 new species and a genus are discovered each year.

Only 900,000 insect species of an estimated total of 3-6 million have been classified.

About half of all species on Earth live in moist tropical forests.

Destruction of rain forests: 4,000 - 6,000 species lost each year.

See I find it odd you say that as although evolution happens slowly this creates new species daily.
