luke I think you mean aac? An atrac file is usually a Sony DRM'd audio file (with an OMG extension). If you are talking about OMG atrac audio then it can't be converted - To Date, nobody has cracked Sony's ATRAC drm. Possibly because no one cares - the atrac mdlp and atrac+ used by minidisc players/net walkmen etc is crappy quality compared to aac and mp3.

Yeah, MD's make nice voice recorders and line in recorders, but then to get the recordings off the MD recorder you need to plug it into the line in on your computer and record again - so why not just plug the tv into the computer and record straight up?
Besides, many MP3 players (example iriver) these days can rip mp3's direct from line in, just like MD's, but you can easily and quickly copy that mp3 to the computer via usb at full mass storage USB2 speed. You can't do that with MD.
@shivam007, ATRAC is the audio codec used by MD recorders and one of the codecs supported by most Sony mp3 players (but not SE mobile phones interestingly). Generally speaking only Sony devices and sharp MD players use this codec (leaving aside pro ATRAC equipment).
