Hey guys,

First time poster, long time lurker.

In a nutshell, I cracked my p910 screen when I was at the gym. I accidentally put my weight on the pocket that was holding my p910 (I was doing abs and I got up and leaned on the pocket holding my phone), and I even felt a crack! When I took it outta my pocket I saw that the screen was totally outta whack. Youll get to see what I mean in the pictures that I attached for you all.

At first thought, I wanted to simply replace the phone and get one for a good price off eBay or something.

Should I buy a screen for this p910 and have it replaced by one of you crafty P910 junkies?

Also, I thought about the warranty. This phone was bought in January of last year (2005), so I dont know if there is still any kind of 'warranty' on it and if I should even bother looking into this.

If someone could shine a little bit of light on this for me, I would be very grateful. I want to fix this situation ASAP since this phone was my primary phone and I really loved it.

It happened the same to me last January.
I think the warranty doesn't cover broken screens by the user.

I went to a SE service center and they replaced the screen. It was not cheap.
After that I found out that the motherboard was damaged with the impact and bluetooth was intermitent.
That rendered my GPS bt unusable, so I became so frustrated (I use GPS frequently) that I decided to buy a new P910 !!
Found a good price from spain and they even sold me without VAT.

I should have bought a new P910 in the first place instead of spending all that money on a screen for a P910 that was damaged anyway (I didn't knew that at the time).

Think this way:
How old is your P910? Are other things in the phone that are braking appart? Like battery not holding charge, stuck buttons, scratched, etc.

If yes, consider buying a new one. They are becomming cheaper by the day.

Thank you for your reply LAU.

Yeah it makes sense to get a new one altogether. Can you point me in the right direction (website, person) to who may be selling a p910a for cheap. The only source I have for now is eBay.

Thanks so much!

I know this may not help, take it to CeBit and get it replaced and your phone re-furbished for free!

You can get replacement screens of ebay now for about £50, and shouldn't be hard to replace, you only also need a T6 and I think a T7 screwdriver. Just be careful when taking the phone apart you don't damage the data ribbon going to the jog dial!

Once again, WHy dont you sent it to the SE service centre, see what they do?

They repaired my W800i for free. It wouldnt charge.

I Realise the screen is a different story, but you can try, your not using it so you wont miss it for the 10 days
