> Soldering new k700i joystick on
Bookmark topic
Hiya,
As with every other k700i on the planet my joystick has stopped working. At first it was just a bit dodgy but now its proper kaput. I bought a replacement joystick unit off eBay that said it needed soldering to the phone, but this is where the problem lies.
I managed to dismantle the phone no probs but when I got all the way down to the joystick bit I couldn't get the old one off! The problem is that there is something glued to the other side of the PCB so I was unable to melt the solder on the other side of the joystick and take it off, its also held in place with some kind of clip.
If anyone has any advice about how to fix the new one on I'd be eternally greatful. I don't want to have to send it off anywhere and pay twenty quid or so for it, I'm sick to the back teeth of this shitty phone and have spent enough money on it already so if I'm gonna spend any more money I'm gonna buy a dirt cheap nokia that makes calls and sends texts and nowt else.
I'm sorry if this has been asked on here before but I had a good search and couldn't see it anywhere,
Many thanks
Chris

the solder for the joystick will be at the base of the joystick (same side) not the other side.
as far as i can tell.
