Hi!

My friend has just sent me a vnt file from his S-E D901i super cool Japanese mobile...

I know a vnt file is a Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone Note File (Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB)

But how do I open it on my PC ?

I don't know about Windows PCs, but if you have an Apple Mac you can use BlueNotes v1.2

You should be able to open it in notepad since it's essentially a text file. However, it will also display the XML style formatting as well like this:

BEGIN:VNOTE
VERSION:1.1
BODY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:line one of text=0Aline two of text=0Aline three of text=0Aline four of text
DCREATED:20040929T040118Z
LAST-MODIFIED:20040929T040501Z
CLASS:PUBLIC
X-IRMC-LUID:000001000000
END:VNOTE

You should still be able to read or cut and paste the text that you want out of it though

Cycovision,
So you didn't care to mention that the info you pasted is from filext.com, a very valuable source for more or less exotic file formats:

To be honest I just googled for it, I didn't really note the URL that I found the info on!

Why link when you can cut 'n paste?

Thanks very much Cycovision and Mark_Q!!!

I have looked at my file in Notepad and can see this

BEGIN:VNOTE
VERSION:1.1
X-DOCOMO-TYPE:JPEG
X-DOCOMO-SIZE:240X320
X-DOCOMO-FILESIZE:21095byte
X-DOCOMO-FILENAME:20060103174642.jpg
SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:20060103174642
DATE:20060103T084642Z
X-DOCOMO-BODY;ENCODING=BASE64:
/9j/4Q6sRXhpZgAATU0AKgAAA
etc etc etc
etc etc etc
l8Jas2gdJLpwMyyEjJzx0H8qiu9TVQUjIOelaRTcjF6I/9k=

END:VNOTE

But I am not quite sure what to do next.

I have experimented and tried to open in Paint Shop Pro but no success!

I did cut and paste the main text out and then saved as pic.jpg but can't open it!

All help much appreciated !

ah right, I was under the impression that vcards (or vnotes) are used to store contact information and / or notes rather than pictures

ok, this bit looks like the image is MIME encoded so I suspect if you run that through a MIME decoder to get the original jpg file back.

its been a very long time since I did any manual MIME encoding and decoding, I'm talking days of BBS (buletin boards)!, but I suspect you can google a free program to do the job for you (or there maybe one in the wiki link I gave above - I didn't look too hard sorry)

hope that helps!

Thanks masseur!

I found an unencode/encode link at the bottom of that page!!

It did the trick and I could see the photo but I could not save it!! Very frustrating, so I used print screen and then pasted the contents of the clipboard into Paint Shop Pro.

Then cropped what I needed and then saved as and got my file saved!

A round-about way, but I got there!

Thanks very much to all who contributed to this thread!
