As far as the bang-for-buck, what is the best movie player in your opinion. Before I drop $30 on smartmovie, I want to make sure that I know all of my options (although I am very happy with the smartmovie 3.11 trial).. What does everyone use?

AS FAS AS STORAGE: What is the biggest I can go with the duo? Is it 2gb or can I go to 4gb? I did a search but I find a lot of variance between answers.

Thanks a lot.

Thank you, 2 gig it is....

Now, as far as smartmovie? Should I just buy it and get on with it or does someone else have a better recommendation?

Smartmovie is the best solution for the P-series at this time - especially with the new CoreMP4 codec and version 3.11 - you can get really good quality and high frame rates.

I'm very happy with mine.

Although, TCPMP does the needful for free but aint as good as SmartMovie 3.11, which I ve only heard not tried...dont feel like spending money on it as m waiting 4 the P990 & SmartMovie for UIQ2 wont work on the UIQ3 OS of P990.
I ve SmartMovie 2.63 which I m happy with for now & must say, use more often than TCPMP.

@has - if you already have 2.62, 3.11 is a free upgrade - it uses the same serial.

TCPMP is only in Alpha/Beta stage and is not available to the general public, so it's not really a viable option.

I have tried TCPMP and I own SmartMovie, version 3.11 is very close to the performance of TCPMP 0.71 and the interface and options are of course much more developed in SmartMovie.

I think I've read somewhere (maybe smartmovie support forum??) that they are planning a version for UIQ3, so an upgrade may be possible.

cheers

IMHO the SmartMovie interface is overcoloured. I like the one in TCPMP It needs some modifications, ofcourse, but its more usable than SmartMovie's

I agree the programmer of SmartMovie is not exactly a graphic designer, most of his programs does not look very nice or "slick" - but then again - are you after eye-candy or functionality?

Sure Smartmovie could have a nicer graphic background, but it's not really in the way of the useability so for me it's OK, and besides 99% of the time you are using the program you are hopefully watching a movie, not the interface

Although TCPMP has a more cleaner interface it's not really a feasable option at this time. The program is not publicly available (at least not through legal sources) and as far as I know the betatesting of the symbian version has not even begun yet. Also, it's not really FREE, since it's not publicly available, and there's no promise that the final version will be free either.

The good thing is, that TCPMP is probably one of the reasons the programmer of SmartMovie has updated the program with better performance, so in that sense it's nice that it's appearing on the market.

To the original poster: Your only real option at this time is SmartMovie, and as you can see - it's a pretty good option
