no, because if the mobile phone doesn't support wireless then it doesn't have the capability to use or scan the wifi frequencies

mobile phones use frequencies 850mhz, 900mhz, 1800mhz, 1900mhz, 2100mhz whereas wifi is based around 2.4ghz

I'm guessing though that you are thinking about bluetooth which does operate around the same frequencies as wifi but with competely different protocols

although its been known for BT and wifi to interfere with each other I haven't heard of any trick, software or other than will allow blutooth enabled phones to detect wifi

question: since i use wifi to connect to the internet from our home PC, is it inadvisable if i send data from my cell to the PC via bluetooth?

Shouldn't be a problem. I've got wifi, and haven't had any probs with bluetooth.

btw, you need a wifi enabled phone like the xda 2s to scan for wifi networks - though you'll probably find like me that most need passwords to access!
