I know you need the USB cable, but I tried running the update EXE just in general on my PC and I see the hourglass icon for a second (windows XP) and it goes away and nothing happens. Does it not run at all because my phone is not connected with the USB cable?

Thanks a lot. I installed the latest jave runtime enviornment, but the update program still doesn't run. Hopefully this is normal if the phone is not hooked up with the USB cable
Edit: Ok, I gave it one more go and reinstalled it and the update service works now... now I just need teh USB cable, argh!
