u can find the number only if you have a high position in the phone company, but is illegal , or if you are from FBI, CIA, etc...

The network offers the service to customers to hide their number. It's a privacy issue, and many customers have legitimate reasons to hide their number, so it would be difficult for the networks to deny people this service.
However imho, the following phone user's shouldn't have the right to hide their number:
1. Financial Institutions
2. Anyone you owe money to
3. Ex-girlfriends
4. Customers who complain all the time
5. In Laws

I see your arguement but the reverse arguement is that you hold the ultimate power - you don't have to answer the call if you don't want to.
I would like the mobile opperators to enable an answerphone option like your home answerphone so that i can listen to the message as the person leaves it so i could then answer the call if i decided i wanted to speak to them or just let them leave their message if i didnt.

Nope its illegal!! Only if you have a genuine problem with stalkers and the like can you do it, but you need to open a case with the police then go to your SP..... long process!!

in UK, as mentioned in a highly publicised case just this week, its perfectly legal to record a telephone call as long as it is purely for your own personal use. if it is to be used in any other way then consent from the other parties being recorded is required.
but this is all straying from the original topic I guess
