Hello,

I was reading on datakits.co.uk that the 1gig memory stick uses up less battery power......but the battery power for the w800i is much better than the k750i coz its a walkman type fone! is this write?

and i want a 1gig stick to put mostly my songs on it, and so its gna use more battery power, coz its got loads of stuff on it, so do you think i should get a 512 or 1gig memory stick?

thnks

The w800 mediaplayer uses just as much battery as the K750, but the W800 has flight mode which means you can turn the phone radio off but still use the mediaplayer. This obviously saves a lot of battery from being sucked up by the phone.

So it has nothing to do with the size of memory stick but whether you use flight mode or not.

I believe that bigger memory sticks do use more power but I also think the difference would be minor, maybe 10% or less overall.

as it happens, I was reading some memory stick specs the other day and recall that 512mb, 1gb and 2gb all consume around 65milliamps in serial mode and 100milliamps in parallel mode

It was on memorystick.com or memorystick.org but can't find the exact specs right now though a random google seems to come up with those figures on many sites, but none that I would quote as official

in any case, we're talking milliamps and I really think this is not something to be too worried about and probably differences in other electrical components from batch to batch of the memory stick and/or phone is likely to wipe this concern away too

My w800i seems to use the same battery power whether I use a 512Mb, 1Gb or 2Gb MSPD card.

I must admit in moving from the original 64MB, to 256MB then to my current 512MB, I haven't noticed any obvious difference in battery up time.

I was using the supplied 64MB MSPD all these days and never noticed big battery usage. Recently, I started using an 1GB MSPD. Battery usage has drastically increased. 10% battery usage (approx) for 1 hour of MP3. Battery usage was not this high when I used 64MB MSPD for 1 hour of music.

I even checked if the battery lost it's life. However, the same battery acts like a demon when I dont listen to MP3. So definitely its not the battery. Is it a faulty MSPD? I do not have another 1GB stick to test. Any updates on this will be helpful.

maybe its cuz u have a bigger memory and u r using the phone more that way so the battery goes fast and u think its the memory stick that is taking up the battery
