> k800i-can use a gsm sim?

i really like the k800i and was wondering if you could use an ordinary gsm sim with it and disable the 3g services or will it be compatible with a 3g sim only.i know i could get a k790i but like most people i am impatiant!

I doubt that it would be able to use a normal GSM sim. If that were the case then it would probably have been specified. Why are you reluctant to buy the K790? They will probably come out at the same time anyway.

I see no reason why it wouldn't use a standard GSM sim. certainly the other 3g SE phones I have had (V800 and Z800) accepted normal sims
also the P990 I played with appeared to be using a normal sim

this is correct, you can use a standard GSM sim in UMTS devices - obviously you cannot use the specific 3G services like video calling, or the higher data speeds.

No. With a standard GSM SIM card you can use all the options offered by your dual mode phone (and network operator).

Na that isn't right. I had a standard sim wit my n70 and couldn't use any 3g services despite o2 cust services sayin i could. Had to get a 3g sim in end and suprise suprise can use 3g services now

In Estonia you don't need special 3G SIM card. You can use all 3G options with your regular GSM SIM card.

I've had 'standard' 2G/2.5G sims in 3g phones before like the V800 with no problems, so as long as the phone will accept any network (or at least if you put the same network's sim in as the phone's simlocked to, e.g. a 2G Voda sim in a 3G Voda phone) it should work fine

No, it is usual GSM SIM card. It may be even quite old SIM card.
