just make sure he makes the phone red and puts a generic CDA in it, that way u'll be able to update thru SEUS to the latest firmware.

Could someone list some 'generic' CDA's that are guaranteed to allow use of SEUS after de-branding/upgrading with DaVinci?

Thanks!

SEUS actually checks your CDA against the IMEI- you can change your CDA via davinci, yes, but the IMEI, I believe it's illegal to do that in most countries. Unless you have a matching CDA/IMEI set, SEUS won't update your phone- I've tried this with my W550, I kept the original CDA, but changed the firmware from EU2 to EU1 via davinci, ran it through SEUS, and it reflashed it back to EU2

Well, I'm not interested in changing my IMEI - even if I knew how, but someone here has done what I want to do: changed the CDA on their O2 (UK) branded phone and then used SEUS to update to the latest firmware.

Anyone know what CDA I should use?

heres what i did on my CHINA (ZN) K750 with firmware R1L002 way back Sept 2005.

Upgrade to R1N035 using DVT - changed ZN to EU2 (everyone told me that when you flash using DVT, theres 90% chance it wont run with SEUS, i took the chance)

Upgrade to R1AA008 using SEUS 2 - Flawless; scanned my device by SEUS2 as EU2. (no doubt)

Upgrade to R1BC002 using SEUS2 (d version) - Flawless (and alot faster); scanned my device as EU2.

when flashing via DVT, theres this FW & SW you hafta choose from. so what i did was i chose FW=EU2 and SW=America2 i dunno it worked luckily.

dont take this as my suggestion but then try to figure stuff, ask people around, research... this is FYI only.

cheers mate!

i forgot to say the current software is R1L002

i will give the phone to flashing tomorrow, and tell you the results...

last-minute check:
so i just have to tell him to:
1) make my phone red
2) use generic CDA

is that all?
