> TOMTOM navigation on P900?
Bookmark topic
Is any available tomtom navigation systems compatible with the p900?
I have a Bluetooth gps reciever.
On the tomtom site they only mention the P910, but is this due to the P900 is no longer in production?

Hi,
Welcome to Esato.
I do beleive that it will work with the P910, but I think that most of the maps are > 128mb - the limit for a MS Duo card for the P900.
Most of the maps (GB anyway) are about 100mb, so i think that this may work - but possibly someone who has tried it can confirm this.

FYI - TomTom & GB plus map is 106mb.

Tomtom does not support the P900 as Tomtom requires a memory stick bigger than 128mb to store all the data and the P900 can only take a 128mb card.

OK, thanks guys for your swift replys!
Could you recommend any specific phone for this? New or something that has been a while on the market.
What about the Siemens SX1?

It works on my p800 so it will work on a p900. But as said before, you'll need the standard maps for your country / region and not the plus maps. And you have to be lucky enough that the region you live in is not too big, mb size wise that is.
Another option for your p900 would be to "upgrade" the software to that of a p910 so you could use the bigger storage capacity of the ms pro duo's. It's all up to you actually.

Am i right in thinking that if you update the firmware of a P900 to a P910, you lose BT functionality? Therefore you wouldnt be able to use you BT GPS receiver.
Or was this P800 -> P900, not P900 -> P910?
I can;t remember, sorry, but I think you will be fine with your P900 running TT and 1 map.

Sorry, I can;t comment on any other phone, but my girlf has an Orange SPV C600 which I'm about to put TT mobile 5 onto.
She says the phones pretty good, even tho she can only txt & call on it!
Other than that - the Nokia N series?

Just use the P900. Works the same as the P910i! Only Bluetooth profiles can be an issue with your headset and a GPS receiver. But I thought that was no issue.
Furthermore only the maps of the UK and Benelux can be used. These are large enough to put onto a 128 MB card. Larger cards cannot be used in the P900. Delete some voices from the voices map that you do not need and you will leave enough space on your memory card for other programs and pictures. Normally a UK with TT package is around 106 MB, deleting voices can bring it back to at least 70 MB. That leaves enough space for other things.
If you need other maps of other countries than you need region maps of certain parts of the country. North of france or any other country. Or you should switch to the P910i.
Good luck!

Not sure where you are based but you could get your phone flashed to a P905, this would allow you to use a bigger capacity memory stick.
I had mine done at a place called Above Connections in London and i have been using Tom Tom ever since.
