I used to work for O2, and it is common for them to take a while testing the F/W.

About a year or two ago, the K700 F/W broke the Text messaging or o2, and i think the K750 F/W has had problems with GPRS.

They need to check every little detail otherwise they lose revenue because you cannot use your phone properly & are liable for a FOC replacement.

It will be out soon, no point giving them hassle. The normal customer service havent got a clue about F/W anyways. You need to get to the nerd in Tech Support to stand a chance of getting a decent answer.

@chrisdaniels

I agree about the O2 support. In the 'old' days (e.g. with my T610 and K700) I used to bother emailing O2 about issues I had with my phone. However, none of the replies were ever anything other than generic replies. It goes without saying that they don't type replies completely by hand. I believe they have a set of pre-written sentances / paragraphs that they select from to form a reply.

Got a reply of O2 DATA SUPPORT SAYING:

Hi James

Thank you for your e-mail.

Our records show that the mentioned software has not been accredited by us for use on the O2-UK network.

There would be nothing stopping you obtaining the upgraded software, but if service was affected, there is nothing we can do to assist.

Kind regards

Brian

in other words: get it from Davinci or some other place other than Sony Ericsson's official update, we cannot be held responsible (you break the contract)

But if you do need a replacement just dont mention that fact.

its your choice at the end of the day, but at least with o2, you know they have checked the F/W as much as possible to ensure it works to recieve/make calls & texts on their network

Only if you have a non-O2 branded phone. As the guy said O2 haven't approved the firmware yet, so its not available for O2 branded phones. If you use a non-branded phone on the O2 network then you can get the upgrade, but they won't offer support if you have problems on the O2 network.

New 02 email!

Good Morning

Thank you for your e-mail.

As stated below, there is nothing stopping you from acquiring this software from Sony Ericsson directly, as far as we know there are no major problems with the handset you are using. If you are unhappy with your handset, I would advise you speak with your customer care team as regards further resolution.

If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

Paul
