folks,

im bored sick of my pc so want a mac,

i need it to be on 24/7 365 so i guess that rules a powerbook out the equation.

Also i want a dvdrw can i get a imac with dvdrw? or can i buy a normal imac and upgrade the optical drive at a later date?

or failing that is there any other mac i can buy the supports dvdrw that isnt a tower and can be on 24/7 365??

looks like i was a willy, the imac does do dvdrw wooohooo looks like im on for a imac then

oh my miss c will be happy!

cheers

hey man,

imacs have dvd rw built in

but also why are you ruling out a powerbook/macbook pro? I currently use a powerbook 24/7 and have been using it for over 6months now, I will generally keep it on for 20 hours at a time, if not longer....

One thing you may want to do is buy a cheap mac first say a mac mini and use it for 4 months just to see how you get on with the os, as many people don't like it and you may find like with the nokia 8800 you will hate the os and prefere windows

ps. I hate windows but still have to use it for some things

The top of the range Mac mini also has DVD-RW

1.66GHz Intel Core Duo processor
2MB L2 Cache
667MHz Frontside Bus
512MB memory (667MHz DDR2 SDRAM)
80GB Serial ATA hard drive
Double-layer SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0
Apple Remote

or on the UK Apple Store, you can have a custom configuration of the lower spec Mac mini with DVD-RW for an extra £40
