Like an idiot, I just washed my 3 monh old W800...

Like a bigger idiot, I have no insurance (in 10 years of mobile ownership, I've never needed it).

Where's the best/cheapest place to get a replacement without breaking the bank?

Try taking the battery out and taking the phone apart as much as you dare, and leave it to dry somewhere warm for a couple of days, you may get lucky and be able to salvage it, but take the batt out ASAP as it's the current from that which wrecks phone electronics after contact with water!

As it is 99% beyond repair I would look for a second hand one from the market place here or ebay.

Yeah, I've done that. It was only in the machine for about 5 minutes before I realised.
It's currently wrapped in tissue and sitting on top of a radiator, but I don't hold much hope.

I really wouldn't put it on a radiator as it might get a lil too hot! Try leaving it in your airing cupboard overnight!

if once a fone gets wet, no chance to repair it. its ca 90% that it dies, mostly the fone dooesnt turn on anymore or step by step the features wont work.

The advice that Sammy_boy gave is spot on.

Also, the longer you can leave it for without replacing the battery the higher the success rate of it working again.

On 'The Gadget Show' they completely submerged a V800i and then took the battery out and let it dry fully...the phone powered up and worked without fault.
